What this is
This is an organised archive of everything your firm has published, said, or been written about, gathered from the public record and put in one place.
It is 294 files and 155 MB. About 700,000 words of text, plus two hours and forty-two minutes of your radio show as audio and your six-page magazine feature as a PDF. Twenty years of work, in one folder.
We built it because we needed it. Before we could design anything for you, we wanted to read what you have actually said over the past twenty years rather than guess at it. Once we had it, it seemed obvious that you should have it too, whatever you decide about working with us.
There is nothing to sign and nothing to return. It is yours.
How to use it
Everything is a plain text file in Markdown format. That means it opens in any program on any computer, forever, with no special software and no subscription. Double-click a file and it will open in TextEdit, Notes, Word, Google Docs, or almost anything else.
Every file begins with a short header telling you where the material came from, the date we captured it, and how complete the capture is. Where something is incomplete, the header says so plainly rather than leaving you to find out later.
Three things you can do with it right away:
Search all of it at once. Open Finder, select this folder, and search for any word or phrase. Every mention across all 294 files will come back. If someone asks what your position is on a look-back period or a special needs trust, the answer is in here in your own words, probably several times.
Reuse your own writing. The newsletters, the articles, and the answers you gave on LawQA are all writing you already own. Any of it can be republished, reworked, quoted, or handed to whoever writes for you next.
Keep it as your own backup. Some of the material in here is no longer reachable on the live internet. See the note on folder 05 below.
What is in each folder
01. Your Video Library
118 files. Written transcripts of 117 of the 119 videos on your YouTube channel, from 9 October 2012 to 27 June 2022, covering 7 hours and 57 minutes of you both on camera.
Two videos could not be transcribed because YouTube holds no captions for them in any language, which we confirmed directly rather than assumed. They are named in the index.
00-INDEX-all-videos-by-views.md lists every video twice, once ordered by view count and once by date, with the title, the length, the playlist it sits in, and the word count. The view counts are worth reading on their own. Your channel has drawn 420,102 views in total.
02. Trust Talk Radio
14 files. All six episodes of your radio show that are publicly posted, each one 27 minutes, transcribed word for word. About 30,000 words in total.
The audio is here too, in episode-audio, as six MP3 files you can play in anything.
One of these episodes is worth singling out. In the Tom G. episode, a real client of yours sits down and describes, unprompted, what it was like to work with you and why he chose you over the alternatives. That recording is unusual. Most firms never get one.
03. Your Newsletter Archive
90 files. Every issue of Protecting You and Yours that is posted on your website, from March 2017 through July 2026. Nine years and five months of monthly writing, signed, first person, roughly 414,000 words of body text.
Each one was downloaded as the original PDF and converted to text mechanically. Nothing was retyped and nothing was summarised, so the words are exactly as you published them.
04. Your Written Articles
13 files. The articles published under /resources/articles/ on your site, captured in full.
05. Your LawQA Answers, Recovered
2 files. This is the folder we would most want you to look at.
Between 25 May 2011 and 6 September 2013, Shadi answered 192 questions from members of the public on LawQA.com. That page is gone. The live link is now a dead redirect with no content behind it, so those answers are no longer reachable by you or by anyone else on the ordinary internet.
We recovered 61 of them from the Internet Archive's snapshots, taken between 2013 and 2017. Each one carries the question as the person asked it, in their own words, spelling and all, and Shadi's full answer underneath. Two more archived pages were fetched but carried other attorneys' answers rather than hers, so they are listed separately and honestly rather than counted.
We were able to reach 63 archived pages in total. The remaining answers are not recoverable from the public archive. So this is 61 of 192, not all of them, and we would rather tell you that than round it up.
06. What Your Clients Said
4 files. 98 individual client reviews, captured word for word, across five sources: 61 from your own website, 27 from Shadi's Avvo profile, 4 from Patrick's Avvo profile, 1 from Justia, and 5 from Google.
Two platforms are not represented here and we want to be straight about why. Yelp blocks automated reading with a security service, so its reviews are not in this set. No Facebook business page exists for the firm, which we confirmed rather than assumed. Google shows 162 reviews in total and we were able to retrieve only 5 of them. If you ever want the rest, logging in as the business owner would unlock both Yelp and Google in an afternoon.
07. Press and Published Work
9 files. Your published and printed record.
- The 2018 cover feature, Attorney Journal Orange County, Volume 143. Shadi as Attorney of the Month, a six-page profile. The original PDF is here, and the full text is here separately so it can be searched and quoted. See the note below about where we found it.
- The 2024 feature, Orange County Attorney Journal, "Building a Legacy", December 2024, covering both partners.
- The 2015 California Business Journal profile of Shadi, "Trustworthy".
- Your book, How to Prepare for Life's Unknown, by Patrick P. Phancao and Shadi Ala'i Shaffer. Both the Kindle and paperback listings, and the introduction in full, which Shadi wrote and signed. The interior of the book is not here because it is a commercially sold work and we did not harvest paid content.
- Patrick's contributed chapter in Wolf in Sheep's Clothing, where he is one of fifteen co-authors, and his publisher's author biography.
A note on the 2018 feature. The PDF is hosted on your own web server at assetprotectioncenter.com/static/2025/06/shadi-shaffer-cover-feature-print-version-1-30-2018.pdf. Nothing on your website links to it, so the only way to reach it is to already know the address. We have put a copy here so it is no longer one forgotten link away from being lost.
08. Your Professional Profiles
6 files. Both partners' Avvo profiles, both Justia profiles, and both WealthCounsel member pages.
The two WealthCounsel pages are worth a mention. Both live member-ID URLs are dead. The content in this folder came from the Internet Archive, and it includes a personal family story of Patrick's that we found nowhere else, on any site, in the whole search.
09. Guest Appearances
6 files. Five full episodes of Probate Weekly with Bill Gross where Shadi appears as the guest, spanning 2021 to 2024, transcribed in full. About 50,000 words.
These are auto-generated captions from Bill Gross's own channel, so they run as one continuous stream without labels saying who is speaking. The surrounding lines usually make it obvious, but we have flagged it in the folder so nobody quotes a sentence of Bill's as Shadi's by accident.
10. Your Website As It Stands Today
32 files. A complete text capture of your website as it existed on 12 September 2026: the home page, the about page, all four attorney biographies, all four staff biographies, all seven practice area pages plus the overview, the FAQ, contact, testimonials, referrals, resources, the disclaimer, and the privacy and cookie policies.
This is simply a snapshot in time. Websites get edited and pages get replaced, and once they do the old wording is usually gone for good. Now you have a copy of what it said on that date.
How we gathered it, briefly
Everything here came from public sources. Your own website, your own YouTube channel, your own SoundCloud, public professional directories, the two magazines, and the Internet Archive for the material that is no longer live.
We did not use a password, we did not ask anyone for access, and we took nothing that sits behind a paywall.
Where we could get the original file, we took the original file and converted it mechanically, so the words are yours rather than a machine's paraphrase. Where a capture is partial, the file says so at the top.
